Human beings are very similar on one hand, but they are also unique on the other. Medicine today is designed and implemented mostly based on the similarities between humans. While a thorough physical examination, family history, and paraclinical work-ups are usually considered when choosing medications, treatment is ultimately chosen based on the likelihood of success and response to medication in the majority of patients. However, in many circumstances, without precise molecular studies, individual characteristics cannot be determined.
